  • Visa Applicants should fill online visa application forms onindianvisaonline.gov.in and submit a print out of filled-in form with two colour photographs (51mmx51mm) and documents as specified below.
  • The sole purpose of travel should be of having a medical treatment in India.
  • The applicant should seek medical treatment at reputed/specialized/recognized hospital in India.
  • Two medical attendants are allowed to travel with the patient. They can be his/her family members, relatives or associates.

 

MEDICAL VISA:

Applicants wishing to visit India for medical treatment should apply for Medical Visa (MV). Medical Visa is issued on the basis preliminary medical advice from the country of origin/residence and has been advised to go for specialized treatment. Person accompanying the patient would be issued Medical Attendant Visa (MX). Medical Visa would generally be issued up to 1 year or the period of treatment whichever is less. All applicants visiting India on medical visa are required to get registered within 14 days of arrival with concerned Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO).

Documents required:

i) Filled-in and signed hard copy of the online visa application form;

ii) Two recent colour photographs;

iii) Letter of invitation from an approved Hospital /Doctor in India;

iv) Medical documents establishing the need for taking medical treatment in India;

v) Proof of availability of sufficient funds for stay in India including the expenses for medical treatment by producing documents such as Bank statement, Salary certificate, sponsorship letter etc.;

A Medical/Medical Attendant visa is normally issued in 5 working days, exclusive of the day on which application is made.

PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS

Photographs should be in color and strictly as per the specifications below.

  • Un-mounted – 2 inch x 2 inch in size.
  • Face should cover about 70 to 80% of the photo area.
  • Frame Subject with Full Face, Front view, Eyes open
  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance.
  • The photographs must be clear, well defined and taken against a plain white or light-coloured background.
  • Appropriate brightness and contrast showing your skin tones naturally
  • Even lighting (no shadows across or behind the face)
  • Face must be square to the camera with a neutral expression, neither frowning nor smiling and with your mouth closed.
  • If you must wear a head covering for religious reasons, make sure your full facial features are not obscured.
  • Non-tinted prescription glasses are allowed as long as your eyes are clearly visible. Make sure that the frame does not cover any part of your eyes. Sunglasses are not acceptable.
  • Headphones, wireless hands-free devices, or similar items are not acceptable in your photo.
  • Photograph for Child/babies – The photograph should show the baby or child awake, looking straight at the camera with mouth closed and nothing covering the mouth. It should also show both edges of the face clearly (no toys, blankets, chair backs or other people visible) and no hair across the eyes.

Please Note:

There is one self-service Photo-booth available at each of our centres in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The photo-booth is a self operating standard Adult photo facility and cannot be adjusted to assist with Infant, Children or Special Needs applicants’ photographs.
